Method of Induction
An application (with a three generation pedigree and picture) can submitted to the Honour Roll Committee for verification and approval. All dogs submitted must be nominated and seconded by members in good standing with the CMC. Both deceased and living dogs are eligible; and in the case of living dogs, points may be added even after they have been entered on the Honour Roll.
There are five different categories for the Honour Roll:
- Platinum Level (a dog awarded all three awards of Merit)
- Gold Level (any dog who gets two awards of Merit)
- Conformation Dog of Merit
- Working Dog of Merit
- Stud Dog/Brood Bitch

Requirements:
Conformation Dog of Merit - requires 12 points
- all-breed Best in Show = 10 points
- all-breed Best Puppy in Show = 4 points
- conformation title (from anywhere) = 4 points each
- puppy group = 2 points
- any of the top five Mastiffs in Canada according to Dogs in Canada: 100-500=2 points, 501-800=4 points,801-1500=6points, 1501-2000=8 points, 2001+=10 points
- any group placement: up to 50 dogs in group=2pts, 51-100=4 points, 101-150=6points, 151-200=8 points, 201+=10 points. A group 1st gets an additional 2 points.
- any type of historic first gets 5 points
- BOB/BOS in any Specialty - 10-20 dogs = 2 points; 21-40 = 4 points; 41-60 = 6 points; 61-80 = 8 points; 81+ = 10 points
2. Working Dog of Merit - requires 8 points
- a HIT with a score over 190 = 5 points
- an obedience title with an average score of 190 or better = 5 points
- the #1 obedience Mastiff as according to Dogs in Canada = 4 points
- obedience title = 4 points; with each higher achieving title getting an additional 2 points (cannot be used with an average score of 190 or better)
- draft dog, agility, tracking, rally obedience titles same as obedience
- any type of historic first gets 5 points
3. Stud Dog/Brood Bitch of Merit: prior to 2002 only 20 points are needed, but there must be some points coming from health testing. After 2002, 30 points are needed - and must include hips, elbows and PRA DNA (unless they have been given an exemption by the CMC Executive).
- a stud dog with 10 or progeny with any type of title and/or group placement (a dog with multiple titles and/or group placements can only have them count once, but can have a title and a group placement each count. For example if a dog's offspring has both a Canadian and International Championship and a CD = 10 points.
- a brood bitch with 5 or more progeny with any type of title and/or group placement (a dog with multiple titles and/or group placements can only have them count once, but can have a title and a group placement each count. For example if a dog's offspring has both a Canadian and International Championship and a CD = 10 points.
- all breed BIS progeny = 5 points
-a CGN, CGC, TDI or TT = 4 points (only one will count)
- a National Specialty BOB/BOS progeny winner = 2 points
- the number one conformation Mastiff progeny for a year as according to Dogs in Canada (if over 100 points) = 2 points
- the top obedience Mastiff for a year according to Dogs in Canada = 2 points <
- stud dog/brood bitch winner from a Specialty (if more than one entry) = 2 points
- any type of historical first gets 5 points
- hips, elbows and PRA tested clear = 10 points hips or elbows tested clear by themselves = 2 points each
- PRA tested clear by itself = 3 points
-PRA tested clear by parentage = 4 points
- CERF tested clear after 24 months = 4 points
- heart clear after 24 months = 4 points
- cystinuria clear = 2 points
- thyroid, vWD or patella clear = 1 point each
- for every progeny that tests clear for hips, elbows and PRA (must be all three) = 2 points
*the division in years is due to the PRA test only becoming available in June of 2001
